The vote of disaffiliation has passed

On October 16, the Sheldon United Methodist Church held a special called charge conference to vote on whether or not the congregation would want to disaffiliate from the United Methodist Church Conference. With a two-thirds majority vote needed to disaffiliate, there were 178 votes to disaffiliate, 76 votes to stay United Methodists, and 2 votes to abstain. With that being said, over 70 percent of the members in attendance voted to leave the United Methodist Church, so the church has officially voted to disaffiliate from the conference. The church will remain United Methodist until July 1st, after the Iowa Annual Conference votes to make it official. Thank you all for your love and support during this hard time, may we now move ahead with the determination to preach and teach the truth of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
